Three technicians lost their lives when the crane collapsed after an operator error at the sets of Indian 2
Lyca Productions Subaskaran flew in to Chennai from UK, met the families of the victims and offered his condolences today. He announced a compensation of Rs.2 crores for the families of the deceased and Rs.50 lakhs for those injured in the sorrowful accident when shooting was in progress for Indian 2. Earlier today, Lyca Productions expressed deep sadness and shock at the unfortunate accident.
On Wednesday night, three key technicians were killed and over 10 injured when a portion of the crane they were standing in collapsed to the ground. The three victims were identified as assistant director Krishna, art director Chandran, and assistant director Madhu. 10 others are hospitalized with injuries.
Condolences continue to pour in from across the film fraternity. Kamal Hassan, who was close by during the accident, visited the victims in the hospital and also announced Rs.1 crore as compensation for the families of the deceased. Initial investigations revealed the cause of the accident to be a human error. The police have filed a case of human negligence against the crane operator and the production manager.
